Redstone’s Jan Bias continues to serve employees after 50 years
Sept. 29, 2026 — Fifty years at one company is a rare career milestone. For Jan Bias, her story of loyalty, leadership and lasting impact is still being written at Redstone Federal Credit Union.
Bias joined Redstone in 1976 as a telephone/mail loan specialist earning $3.16 an hour. A few years later she moved to human resources where she continued to work for the majority of her career. Five decades later, Jan is still helping the organization meet challenges, grow and care for its people.
As Executive Vice President for People & Culture, Jan is Redstone’s longest serving employee and oversees people, pay, culture, and community outreach, for more than 1,500 employees.
“Jan has helped shape Redstone into the organization we are today and I’m excited to celebrate her 50-year milestone during the same year we also celebrate Redstone’s 75th Anniversary,’’ said Joe Newberry, Redstone’s President and CEO. “I’ve known Jan for many years, and I’ve seen firsthand her integrity, credibility and genuine concern for people,’’ said Newberry. “Those qualities make her an exceptional leader and helped earn her a seat at the executive table.’’
A few of Jan’s successes include:
- Creating Redstone’s toll-free telephone numbers
- Launching Redstone’s onsite clinic and cafeteria
- Expanding its training and benefits options
- Overseeing the Tennessee Market expansion
Working in HR, there is always a balancing act. “You are always wanting to do what’s best for your employees,” she said. “At the same time, you’ve always got to measure that with what’s best for the organization.”
She says that Redstone’s people and culture have made her journey worthwhile. “I hope I’ve made a positive difference in the lives of people during my journey here, and have given back as much as I have received.”
