What is Apple Pay™?
Apple Pay is a mobile payments service and digital wallet app that utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) to initiate secure payment transactions between contactless payment terminals and Apple iOS devices.

Where can I make purchases with Apple Pay?
You can make purchases at stores that accept NFC (or tap-to-pay) payments. In addition, you can use Apple Pay to make payments in select applications. For an updated list of in-store and online retailers accepting Apple Pay, go to

Which devices will Apple Pay be available on?

  • To use Apple Pay in-store, you will need an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, or iPhone 6s Plus
  • To use Apple Pay online, you will need an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2, or iPad Mini.

What types of cards can be loaded into Apple Pay?
The following card types can be loaded into Apple Pay (some exceptions may apply):

  • Credit cards
  • Debit cards
  • Loyalty cards

How are cards loaded into Apple Pay?
You will be able to decide what card(s) are loaded for use by Apple Pay in two ways:

  • Choosing to load the card on file through iTunes
  • Manually entering a card by taking a picture of the plastic with the iPhone 6

How do I change my default card to my Redstone Federal card?
The credit or debit card associated with your iTunes® account or the first card you add to Passbook® is your default card. To change your default card:

  • Go to "Settings > Passbook & Apple Pay."
  • Tap "Default Card."
  • Choose a new card.

How do I make a purchase with Apple Pay?
You can make a purchase in two ways:

  • Paying In-Store: Place your mobile device next to merchant’s NFC-enabled card reader and authorize transactions by placing a finger on Touch ID
  • Paying In-App: Select Apple Pay and place finger on Touch ID

Can I use Apple Pay from my phone if I’m in a poor Internet service area?
Apple Pay can perform a limited number of transactions with poor Internet service. If you’re without Internet and need to use Apple Pay, the app will tap into a limited number of stored tokens on the device.

Can I use Apple Pay to make contactless payments internationally?
Yes. Apple Pay has been designed to enable contactless payments internationally.

What if my Apple device is lost or stolen?
If your Apple device is lost or stolen, use “Find My Apple Device” to quickly suspend or remove your digital account numbers for the respective device. You may also contact Redstone Federal Credit Union who can perform the same action on your Visa card(s). Once you receive your new device simply add cards to your wallet. In the meantime, you can continue to use your physical card without interruption.

What happens if I unpair my Apple Watch from my iPhone?
If you unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone, all of your Apple Pay information is wiped from your Apple Watch. To use Apple Pay on your Apple Watch again, you will need to re-add your card information using the same process as when you initially set it up.
