Keith Gilliam knew that a sense of community, built around sharing a cup of coffee, was missing in his neighborhood, so he set out to bring that to the Winchester Road area of Madison County.

Imagine a cozy older home, filled with the scents of freshly brewed coffee and baked scones. You are greeted warmly and invited to enjoy a book from their shelves or swap some stories while you sip your hand-crafted coffee.

Now seven and a half years later, Keith and his wife, Rana, are proud their Flint River Coffee Company embodies that welcoming, community spirit.

Every decision they‘ve made has centered around supporting their community. Even down to their banking decisions. When their original bank started charging fees, the Gilliams moved their business accounts to Redstone Federal Credit Union. They are able to invest what they would have paid in banking fees back into their business and their community.

“Having our personal and business accounts at the same place was a big draw,” says Keith. “And Redstone has shown they can tailor (their products) to our needs.”

The trust they have in Redstone and their other business partners allow them more time to get to know their customers. And truly serving their customers is the core of their business. This service goes beyond providing a great cup of coffee.

“By being there for and with our customers, we are able to minister in so many different ways,” says Keith. “This is my way of answering God’s call to serve the community.”

When you stop by The Flint River Coffee Company, you’re sure to feel the warmth.
