With a new year ahead, are you considering looking for a new job? If adding something new to your resume is on your to-do list in 2017, we have some helpful tips on ways to find great job openings. Hit the ground running in 2017 and find your next dream job with these great strategies. You may find some openings you wouldn’t otherwise!

Download Job Apps

Finding your next job takes a lot of searching. Make it simpler by adding a few great job search apps to your phone. Anytime you have some downtime, whether it’s waiting at the doctor's office or on your cup of joe, you can quickly access all of your job-hunting needs with apps. Check out these three to get started:

Jobaware: Search through thousands of job listings and track the progress of all your job applications. With its simple autofill option, you’ll save tons of time by having the site automatically input your information. Imagine all the extra time you’ll have!

CareerBuilder: Ever wonder if your applications even get looked at? CareerBuilder notifies you when an employer has received your application and when they have viewed it! You’ll also be able to see how many other people have applied, save jobs to apply to later, research companies and more.

Indeed: This job search giant allows you to search jobs posted from thousands of websites, so if you only have room on your phone for one job app, this should be it. Try signing up for their email notifications for new jobs that match your searches or create a resume within the app to allow employers to find you.

Get Local

Utilize your local resources! If you’re planning on staying within your current area, this is a no-brainer. Check out your local job resource centers, libraries, placement agencies and even local government for job openings, job placement and helpful resources. Try searching for job fairs, resume classes, networking events and industry club events to get the most out of your local job scene. If there’s a company you’d love to work for, keep a close eye on their careers site for new postings and reach out to your LinkedIn connections and Facebook friends who already work there.  Your connections may be able to give you the scoop on a new position before it’s even posted or the name of the hiring manager.

Utilize Your Alumni

An additional route to go is to find an alumni group within your area or the area you’re looking to move to. You may be amazed at the type of network you find and how many connections you may have that you didn’t realize were there! Contact your school or scour their website for information on alumni groups. You might also try scouting out alumni groups on LinkedIn or Facebook to start making connections.
