Discover a variety of savings personalities and fun ways to encourage your child to save!

The Credit Union Youth Month celebration continues! We have the next round of adorable owl savers ready for you to share with your children. Which one is your child most like? Discover four more saving personalities and fun ways to teach your children how to save!

Stop by any of our branches in April to find Give a Hoot About Saving coloring sheets and other fun surprises to help encourage children to save. You might find a table set up filled with games and educational pieces, like the one below at our East Athens branch. When you make saving fun, it's much easier to convince your child to make it happen.

Our youngest members can enjoy some fun activities at our East Athens branch.

Here are the next four owls in our Give a Hoot About Saving series! Which saving personality fits your child?

Wide eyed saver: they never miss an opportunity to sock away money in their savings!

Wide Eyed Saver: when they buy something and receive change back, the first thing they do is store it in their piggy bank! This saver is diligent, always putting most—if not all!—of their birthday money straight into savings. As this type of saver ages, teach them about coupons and other grocery saving strategies; they will likely love the game of finding different ways to save!

Hipster Saver: saving is the cool thing to do! This saver loves to use fun tools to help them reach their savings goals.

Hipster Saver: this saver has a passion for doing things "old school" and enjoys all of the traditional banking systems. From balancing their checkbook to reviewing their statements, this saver is involved in each step of the process and enjoys learning all about how banking and saving works. Gift this saver a fun checkbook holder, calculator, or piggy bank to keep them rolling on their savings journey.

Surprised Saver: they love checking their balance, it always leaves them with a smile on their face!

Surprised Saver: likes to review their monthly statement with their parents, and is always surprised by how much they have saved. Explain to your child the power of compound interest and how even small amounts can turn into large returns later in life. Once they realize how much impact their actions have now, they're bound to want to save even more!

Antihero Saver: this type of saver spends lots of time thinking about all the ways they can save!

Antihero Saver: coins from under the couch? Check! Birthday money? Check! Lemonade stand or car wash money? Check! The Antihero Saver is always on the lookout for ways to add to their savings account. This saver will love chore charts and reading books about money management and saving.

If your child is not a STAR Club®member yet, bring them to any branch to open an account! It's a way to make saving fun and offers special surprises and treats throughout the year to encourage strong saving habits. New STAR Club members receive an extra special surprise when they open an account during April's Youth Month celebration!
