Have documents you need to destroy? Come to shred day!

Do you have lots of old documents lying around the house you need to get rid of? Is it time to clean out the office or work space? It’s important to shred those old documents to protect your information and keep you safe. But what if you don’t have a shredder? The last thing you want to do is lug it all to a store and pay to have it shredded. There is another option: Shred Day!

The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama is holding a free community-wide document shredding event at our Wynn Drive location on Saturday, October 22 from 8:30 am – 12 pm. Simply drive into the parking lot in front of The Atrium at Redstone Federal Credit Union® on Wynn Drive and drop off your sensitive documents to be securely shredded on site by Secure Destruction Services and Document Destructive Service for free!

Don't miss out on your chance to shred documents, recycle electronics and destroy hard drives at Shred Day.

There will also be free recycling of electronics with memory and hard drive destruction by Tennessee Valley Electronics Recycling.

The following items will be accepted for recycling:
(list is not comprehensive)

  • Paper (3 kitchen-size garbage bags or bank-size boxes per vehicle)
  • PCs
  • Laptops
  • Tablets
  • Hard Drives
  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • Flat Screen Monitors/LCDs
  • Modems, Routers, & Switches
  • Speakers & Cords
  • Digital Cameras
  • DVD Players
  • DVRs
  • Office Phones
  • Cell Phones & Chargers
  • Other electronics containing memory

CRT monitors and televisions will only be accepted for a $15.00 hauling and destruction fee.

Items that will not be accepted include light bulbs, trash, microwaves, hazardous materials, cardboard, and three-ring binders.

We will also be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Downtown Rescue Mission during the event. This local charity has been helping those in our community for over 36 years and provides emergency services, community outreach, shelter and more to those in need throughout the Tennessee Valley.

Come to shred day to get rid of old documents and don't forget to bring food donations for Downtown Rescue Mission.

 

Now is the time to take advantage of these great services for free! Don’t forget to bring some non-perishable food items to donate to Downtown Rescue Mission. This is the last Shred Day of the year in Huntsville, so make sure you stop by.
