The numbers are in from our donation drive for Free 2 Teach during Food Truck Fest!

Food Truck Fest is officially over for the year, and we want to thank everyone for coming out and enjoying these great events while helping us raise donations for Free 2 Teach! We definitely enjoyed hosting these events at our Wynn Drive location and are thankful to Cummings Research Park for putting these Food Truck Fests together. If you missed out on them this year, don’t worry! They will be back next spring.

Free 2 Teach Donations From Food Truck Fest

October 25, 2016

Carts were delivered full of supplies to Free 2 Teach from the Food Truck Fest donation drive and Redstone's internal charity drive.

We’re excited to share the final numbers from our donation drive during Food Truck Fest for Free 2 Teach! If you are not familiar with Free 2 Teach, they are a local non-profit that provides much-needed school supplies for free to the almost 4,000 teachers in Madison County’s three public school systems: Huntsville City, Madison City and Madison County. These school supplies help not only the teachers, but the 52,000 students they help educate each year.

The Free 2 Teach stock room stores an array of items for local school teachers. Since January of 2013, Free 2 Teach has helped thousands of public school teachers supply their classrooms at no cost. Teachers throughout our community have been able to utilize over $1 million worth of free resources thanks to Free 2 Teach! A trip to the Free 2 Teach store saves teachers an average of $475. These free resources allow teachers to enrich classroom instruction and impact student learning and development daily.

Thanks to those who attended Food Truck Fest, we were able to gather 276 items to donate to Free 2 Teach! These items included:

17 bottles of glue
31 packs of crayons
11 packs of glue sticks
3 packs of colored pencils
4 packs of printer paper
24 notebooks
7 packs of pencils
19 packs of pens, markers and highlighters
12 packs of paper
various other school supplies, including scissors, erasers, and notecards
