RFCU is proud to celebrate Redstone Arsenal's 75th Anniversary.

When Huntsville businessmen George Mahoney and Lawrence Goldsmith worked with Congressman John Sparkman to convince the Army to choose Huntsville for its new chemical warfare plant, no one could have imagined the impact it would have on the state, nation and world. On August 4, 1941, officials broke ground for the first building on the Arsenal. With the arrival of Dr. Wernher von Braun and his team in 1950, the Arsenal was ushered into a decade of exceptional growth and worldwide acclaim.

Redstone Arsenal celebrates 75 years of service this year.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the military installation known as Redstone Arsenal. Redstone Federal Credit Union® joins the installation and the community in celebrating its diamond jubilee year.

“Serving the military and civilians of Redstone Arsenal will always be an integral part of who we are.’’
Mary Grace Evans, RFCU Assistant Vice President of Community Relations

When Huntsville businessmen George Mahoney and Lawrence Goldsmith worked with Congressman John Sparkman to convince the Army to choose Huntsville for its new chemical warfare plant, no one could have imagined the impact it would have on the state, nation and world. On August 4, 1941, officials broke ground for the first building on the Arsenal. With the arrival of Dr. Wernher von Braun and his team in 1950, the Arsenal was ushered into a decade of exceptional growth and worldwide acclaim.

On November 28, 1951, Redstone Federal Credit Union was established, in part, to support the soldiers and civilians on the Arsenal. The Credit Union’s growth has mirrored that of the Arsenal in many ways. Currently there are 41,866 employees at the Arsenal—military, civilian and contractors. RFCU® has more than 385,000 members.

RFCU provides:

  • 14 ATMs on Redstone Arsenal
  • A virtual teller at Building 4202 that is available starting at 7:30 am weekdays
  • Support for numerous Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) events: including Volunteer Appreciation; Garrison Principal Luncheon; Child, Youth and School Services Funfest; U.S. Soldier Show; Oktoberfest; Retiree Appreciation Day; NASA's Take Our Children to Work Day and Financial Education workshops

RFCU also pays special attention to former and current soldiers with sponsorships of: Legacy 4 Korean War Veterans Foundation, Veterans United and Still Serving Veterans. The Credit Union has received numerous awards and recognitions for its support of Redstone Arsenal and all who work and live there.

Congratulations Redstone Arsenal on such a historic milestone!
