Many of our branches built amazing Canstructions, such as the Cansino at our Highway 53 branch!

Can-A-Thon has come to a close, and we are so thankful for our giving community that came together to donate so many boxes of food for those in need. We collected cans at all of our branches for a week, held the live 12-hour Can-A-Thon broadcast in front of The Atrium, and had our employees donate cans. So what is the final tally? We're very excited to share with you the final counts for Can-A-Thon 2016!

Can-A-Thon 2016 Comes to a Close

December 21, 2016

One great Canstruction was the Cansino at our Highway 53 branch.

Over 32,000 lbs of food were collected in Madison County alone! And, one great aspect of Can-A-Thon is that your donations stay local. Each county in Can-A-Thon distributes the cans to a local charity, which then helps the hungry in your community. In Madison County, the food is donated to Christmas Charities Year Round and is used to fill food boxes for 500 families this holiday season.

During Can-A-Thon, our employees were encouraged to bring in donations as well. They then created Canstructions out of their donated cans. This year, our employees came up with some very creative and wonderful ways to display their cans! Take a look at some of our favorite Canstructions from our employees!

County Line created Camp County Line at their branch.

Our County Line branch won the employee contest with 68 votes! They created a camper that had dual use: you could use it as a photo booth when dropping cans off!

It's Raining (cans), Hallelujah!

This one definitely wins for most creative! It was "Raining Cans" at our Scottsboro branch. We're still wondering how they made that amazing cloud.

The Redstone Express was waiting for can at Athens!

The Redstone Express was going full-steam ahead at our Athens branch. They even added the "Live Brighter" tagline and the Redstone family crest.

What a wonderful castle created by our Meridianville branch.

Our Meridianville had a few great architects on their team this year. They created this majestic Canstruction titled "The RFCU Royal Feast".

We want to thank you and the entire Tennessee Valley community for coming together for such a great cause. Without your support and donations, this would never be possible. We also want to send out a huge thank you to WAFF Channel 48 for creating this wonderful event and Two Men and a Truck moving company for helping load the donations during the finale. This was our 13th year for Can-A-Thon and the most successful one yet!
