Wade Mountain Nature Preserve

 

One of the six springs at the Wade Mountain Preserve. On a clear day, it’s possible to see Tennessee from Devil's Race Track, a rock outcropping at the top of Wade Mountain Nature Preserve. With 8 miles of trails, including some paved, the park is perfect for those looking to bike, hike, or even horseback ride. The 843-acre park includes numerous sinkholes, six springs, two waterfalls, and multiple caves, making it the perfect park for explorers.

 

Big Cove Creek Greenway  

 

Whether you're a runner or a horseback rider, you'll love visiting Big Cove Creek Greenway.With 2.86 miles of paved trails, Big Cove Creek Greenway is a paradise for runners, walkers, and bikers. The trail ventures through the Eastern side of Huntsville and includes creeks, forest, fields, and swamps. If you like longer adventures, the Greenway connects to the Hays Nature Preserve, Little Cove Road Greenway, and the Flint River Greenway.

 

Green Mountain Nature Trail  

 

Green Mountain Nature Trail promises a serene getaway with beautiful amenities.This 72-acre park sits serenely atop Green Mountain and includes picnic tables, historic log cabins, a covered bridge, and an outdoor chapel. A 1.5 mile walking trail circles Sky Lake and is easily accomplished by all levels of outdoorsmen. Described as peaceful and beautifully serene on TripAdvisor, this is a wonderful park to escape to for an afternoon picnic, early morning hike, or sunset photography.

 

Ditto Landing  

 

Ditto Landing is a paradise for any water-lovers!Water lovers will rejoice when they find Ditto Landing, located halfway down the Tennessee River. Visitors can enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, camping, walking/biking trails, and a marina. A highlight is their annual Memorial Day event; thousands gather to enjoy music and fireworks over the Tennessee River. The park’s slogan is “Year Round Fun” and they definitely deliver!

 

Blevins Gap Nature Preserve

 

Feel like you're on top of the world and get a glimpse of Huntsville from atop of Green Mountain at Blevins Nature Gap Preserve.With 971 acres and a stunning view of Huntsville from atop Green Mountain, Blevins Gap Nature Preserve is a park you must visit at least once. With a 10.5-mile trail system, you can get in a lot of nature watching at this park. The trail is great for those looking for a challenging hike, run, or mountain bike ride.
