5 Financial Questions for a Fresh New Year

January 12, 2017

Ask yourself these 5 questions to make sure your finances are in good standing for this year.

Get the new year off to a great start by taking stock of your long-term financial situation. It’s the perfect time to meet with your advisor to review where you’ve been, where you are now and where you want to go with your financial goals and objectives. You could gain more understanding of how your savings strategy is working – helping you live brighter!

Here are the top five questions to ask your financial advisor:

1. Am I on track to meet my retirement goals?

Review the timeframe and lifestyle goals for your retirement; then see how your current strategy matches up to where you need to be at this point along your path to financial freedom.

2. Are my assets preserved and my income protected?

Depending on where you are in your path to retirement, make sure your assets and growth are performing as expected.

3. Are any changes necessary?

If your current situation has changed, your goal-tracking is off or you want to adjust your long-term goals, now is the time to make any changes to get your plan back in shape.

4. What's the plan for this year? For the next five years?

Be specific in your questions so your financial advisor can provide you with some specific answers. This will help you feel better about reaching your financial goals.

5. Is my wealth transfer plan still appropriate?

Let your financial advisor know of any changes in your family situation, especially those that could impact how your assets will benefit loved ones when you are no longer around.
